Acquisition adds to ZOLL’s resuscitation offerings
ZOLL Medical has continued its holiday shopping spree with the acquisition of a company that makes noninvasive circulatory therapies.
In late November, ZOLL announced that it was purchasing the InnerCool temperature management business from Philips. ZOLL’s most recent deal targets Advanced Circulatory Systems, whose Intrathoracic Pressure Regulation therapy platform is designed to improve blood circulation to the heart, brain and other organs when patients are in states of low blood flow.
The therapies use the patient’s own mechanisms to enhance circulation rather than pharmaceutical or other agents. The technology potentially can be used in emergency care, hospital, clinic and home settings.
Chelmsford, Mass.-based ZOLL, which makes medical devices and software solutions, said the acquisition will supplement products for acute events such as cardiac arrest. Advanced Circulatory Systems will continue to operate from its offices in Roseville, Minn., as a part of ZOLL’s core products division.
Neither company disclosed financial details. The deal is expected to close in early 2015.
