Medtronic forms partnership with municipal government in China
Medtronic has announced a partnership with a Chinese municipal government to expand access to diabetes treatments.
Medtronic plans on investing in a manufacturing facility in Chengdu, China, to develop a pump system with its SmartGuard technology. The company will also work with the municipal government in Chengdu to make the technology available to people with diabetes in the Sichuan province. The software will be displayed in Chinese, according to Medtronic.
In September 2015, Medtronic first announced a strategic partnership agreement with the city of Chengdu, in which both parties agreed to expand access to diabetes medications and other proven therapies.
In addition, Medtronic announced in August 2014 that it would open a factory for portable hemodialysis equipment in Chengdu.
