Andrea Russo inducted as HRS president
Cardiologist Andrea M. Russo, MD, took the reins of the Heart Rhythm Society as president this month after an induction ceremony at the organization’s annual meeting in San Francisco.
Russo is a physician and the director of electrophysiology and arrhythmia services at Cooper University Health in Camden, N.J. The Cooper Heart Institute was named one of the top-performing hospitals in the country for treating congestive heart failure by the U.S. News & World Report, and Russo herself has racked up a substantial list of accolades. She currently serves on the Heart Rhythm journal’s editorial board and has participated in “numerous” HRS committees and task forces, according to a blog post.
“Dr. Russo is a compassionate, knowledgeable physician and researcher, providing her patients and their families with the highest level of care,” Phillip A. Koren, MD, medical director of the Cooper Heart Institute, said in the post. “We are proud that Dr. Russo is on our staff and congratulate her on this achievement.”
Russo received her medical degree from Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, N.Y., and completed her residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania before pursuing her fellowship training in cardiology and electrophysiology at Cooper University Hospital.
HRS presidents serve one-year terms.
