Improved diversity can benefit clinicians and patients alike, according to a new analysis in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Sharing their findings in Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging, the researchers said their AI model should be easy to implement without creating a lot of additional work.

Putting OAC therapy on hold does have its own benefits, the authors wrote, but uninterrupted OAC therapy is still the better choice.

“Value can be defined as delivered care divided by cost,” the specialists wrote. “Ideally, each patient receives the same good quality of care in an equitable, timely way.”

The Heart Failure Association, European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, European Heart Rhythm Association and European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions all collaborated on the position statement.

The bill, introduced in the House of Representatives, has already gained support from the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association. 

Researchers tracked data from more than 1,000 patients who received care from 2014 to 2020.
