Medtronic updates continuous glucose monitoring system

Medtronic has launched its iPro2 fourth-generation continuous glucose monitoring system to better manage diabetes and glucose levels in patients.

According to the Minneapolis-based company, the iPro2 includes a disposable glucose sensor and small data recorder to record glucose levels and can identify fluctuations in glucose better than A1c tests and other glucose meter measurements.

The technology can record up to 288 glucose reading within a 24-hour period and data are uploaded into the CareLink iPro database to be viewed by physicians.
Medtronic said that the iPro2 has already received a CE Mark for distribution across Europe and is pending approval by the FDA.
