AtriCure CEO resigns
David J. Drachman, CEO and president of AtriCure, has announced his resignation. Drachman will continue to serve the company through Sept. 30.
The West Chester, Ohio-based AtriCure specializes in medical devices and cardiac surgical ablation systems for the treatment of atrial fibrillation. Drachman’s term as a member of the company’s board of directors ended effective Aug. 2.
AtriCure also announced the formation of an office of the chairman led by Richard M. Johnston, chairman of AtriCure’s board of directors. This office will assume the responsibilities of Drachman. In addition to Johnston, Michael D. Hooven will serve as a member of the office of the chairman. One of AtriCure’s founders and a member of the board since 2000, Hooven served as the company’s CEO and president from 2000 to 2002.
Johnston said in a release that the company will conduct a search for a new CEO.
