Sister to Sister calls it quits
Sister to Sister will close down at the end of the year and donate its teaching materials and intellectual property to a partnering heart institute.
The women's resource and heart disease screening center was launched in 1999 to offer more care for women at risk for cardiovascular disease. The organization says it has provided more than 100,000 free screenings since its inception.
Sister to Sister will donate its educational content and intellectual property to the Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center in the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute in Los Angeles. The educational initiative has partnered with the heart center for more than a decade.
As part of the deal, Cedars-Sinai will receive the Sister to Sister registered trademarks, fact sheets, educational videos on lifestyle and heart health as well as the Holly Heart robot. The robot, put in commission in 2001, has made appearances on Capitol Hill, in TV news shows and at health fairs.
