More at your fingertips: ACC adds conditions, tools to guideline app

The American College of Cardiology (ACC) released more content for the Guideline Clinical app, the first update following the November launch. The update expands available tools and guidelines for valvular heart disease and atrial fibrillation.

The free application seeks to replace paper booklets and calculators once carried by physicians, putting that knowledge in one easy-to-use place. Currently available through the app are tools such as dosing calculators, best care algorithms and scoring tools. It also provides guideline information, executive summaries, and top 10 points regarding blood cholesterol, cardiovascular risk assessment and heart failure in addition to the two newly available condition areas: valvular heart disease and atrial fibrillation.

The ACC app is one of several offered for free by professional societies geared toward providing physicians with easier and electronic guideline assistance.

Future updates, expected in March, will expand guidelines to include treating obesity and managing cardiovascular risk through lifestyle changes. The ACC Guideline Clinical App can be downloaded through iTunes and GooglePlay.
