American Society of Hypertension elects new president
The American Society of Hypertension (ASH) elected John D. Bisognano, MD, PhD, as its president.
Bisognano is a cardiologist at the University of Rochester Medical Center in New York and the director of the University of Rochester Medicine’s hypertension clinic.
He helped create a community education program known as the “Rochester Model,” which aims to reduce the rates of hypertension and decrease healthcare costs, according to a news release. As part of the program, Bisognano and colleagues encouraged employees to monitor their blood pressure and take low-cost medications to treat MI as well as stroke and kidney and heart disease.
