MedAxiom, Magellan Health form partnership to develop cardiovascular-specific ACOs
MedAxiom and Magellan Health have formed a partnership to support cardiovascular programs that develop accountable care organizations (ACOs) specific to cardiovascular care.
MedAxiom and Magellan Health plan on working with large cardiology practices and helping them with value-based reimbursement models and better positioning with payers. Under an ACO, physicians and practices work together to coordinate care, improve the quality of care and provide cost savings.
“The launch of this initiative is ideally timed as the health care marketplace continues to transition to new payment models in which providers are increasingly aligned with payers around the optimal management of patient conditions that produce the greatest quality at the lowest cost to the health care system,” Jennifer Linville, MedAxiom’s founder and CEO, said in a news release. “This alignment has created an increased accountability for providers to manage chronic conditions with a focus on total value.”
