Cardiologist helps save the life of a college football player
Cardiologist Stacy Brewington, MD, helped Wofford College football player Michael Roach survive after Roach suffered cardiac arrest during a game in early September, WKRN in Nashville, Tennessee, reports.
When Roach collapsed on the sideline, Brewington ran down from the stands, checked Roach’s pulse, performed CPR and used an automated external defibrillator on the player, according to the report. Brewington also accompanied Roach to the hospital and oversaw his treatment.
Roach was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and was told he cannot play football again.
