Love bites: How a hickey can induce a stroke

It’s all fun and games until someone has a stroke. According to a case study in the New Zealand Medical Journal, ill-placed hickey caused a partial blockage of blood flow to the brain that lead to a woman’s stroke.

While cases are rare, placing extra pressure on the carotid artery increases the risk of clotting that can lead to stroke.
