Houston woman sues cardiology center, physician for alleged medical records breach
A woman filed a lawsuit on Dec. 1 against a cardiology center in Houston and a physician alleging they compromised her medical records, the Southeast Texas Record reports.
Traci L. Putnam sued Houston Interventional Cardiology (HIC) and Cyril Tawa, MD, and alleged that an HIC employee accessed her medical records and sent her harassing messages via email, according to the website.
Putnam, a patient at the North Cypress Medical Center (NCMC), filed a complaint with NCMC, which determined that an HIC staff member accessed her records. NCMC then reported the issue to the Office of Civil Rights at the Department of Health and Human Services.
