Cardiologist provides tips for healthy grocery shopping
Susan Smyth, MD, director of the University of Kentucky HealthCare Gill Heart Institute, writes in the Lexington Herald Leader that people can lose weight and feel healthier by making smart choices at the grocery store.
Smyth, who is also the chief of the cardiovascular medicine division, recommends people eat white or brown foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, low-fat dairy items, lean meats and fish and breads made from whole grains.
Smyth also said that people should read food labels and pay attention to serving sizes per package.
