Plaintiffs settle 82 lawsuits with cardiologist, hospitals for alleged unnecessary cardiac procedures
Plaintiffs involved in 82 lawsuits alleging unnecessary cardiac procedures have reached settlements with the hospitals and cardiologist, the West Virginia Record reports.
The agreements settled all claims against Raleigh General Hospital, Lifepoint Hospitals and Donald Kenneth Glaser, MD, who had allegedly performed the unnecessary procedures.
Lifepoint acknowledged the settlements in an SEC filing, but it did not reveal details and terms of the agreements.
The number of cardiac procedures performed at Raleigh General increased from 350 in 2009 to 1,745 in 2010, the first full year that Glaser was director of the hospital’s interventional cardiology unit.
Glaser’s tenure at Raleigh General ended in 2013.
