Two European EP groups to hold joint congress
Two European cardiac electrophysiology congresses will hold a joint annual event beginning 2014 after signing an agreement June 13 at Cardiostim 2012 in Nice, France.
The joint congress will bring together the European Society of Cardiology-European Heart Rhythm Association (ESC-EHRA) and Cardiostim-Reed. It will combine EHRA’s Europace, an international conference on cardiac arrhythmias that takes place every odd-numbered year in different member countries of the ESC, and Cardiostim, an international scientific congress in electrophysiology and cardiac techniques that is held every even-numbered year.
Beginning in 2006, the two congresses agreed to hold their respective congresses in alternating years and collaborate on the scientific program. Under the new agreement, a joint congress will be held each year in June and will offer scientific programs addressing electrophysiology and catheter ablation, devices, non-invasive electrophysiology and basic science.
Each organization will maintain commercial and corporate independence, with the scientific program established by a joint scientific committee led by two co-chairpersons, one from each organization. In 2014 and 2016 the congress will be called Cardiostim-EHRA Europace; in 2015 and 2017 it will be called EHRA Europace-Cardiostim. Every year abstracts from the congress will be published in EP-Europace—the European Journal of Pacing, Arrhythmias and Cardiac Electrophysiology.
