Beloved Ohio cardiologist dies at 91

Walter H. Roehll Jr., MD, a cardiologist known throughout Ohio for his kindness and dedication to patient care, has died. He was 91 years old.

Roehll was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served on the board of the American Heart Association. He also wrote a book, “Stories from the Heart: Revelations from a Cardiologist,” that was released in 2013.

According to a thorough review of Roehll’s life published by the Journal-News, the veteran cardiologist is remembered for bringing the latest and greatest in cardiology technology and practices to Middletown, Ohio, and the surrounding areas. He was also known for his positive attitude and desire to learn as much as he possibly could about the field of cardiology.

According to the Journal-News, Roehll spoke with a longtime colleague, Tracy Snelling, on the day before he died.

“I have had a wonderful life with a wonderful family and friends,” Roehll said to Snelling. “I used to be afraid of dying. But now I know Mary Lou is up there with her arms wide open.”

Mary Lou, Roehll’s wife of 67 years, died in 2018.
