Cardiologist dies after small plane crash in Minnesota

A Minnesota cardiologist has died from injuries he sustained in a small plane crash.

Richard Jolkovsky, MD, was piloting the plane when it crashed south of Hutchinson, Minnesota, on Jan. 31. A 24-year-old passenger was also injured, the Associated Press reported, but remains in stable condition.

The 61-year-old cardiologist worked for the CentraCare Heart & Vascular Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He also served as a member of the St. Cloud Hospital Board of Directors.

The crash is currently being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board.

Sadly, this story may feel familiar to many readers. Back in October 2021, Sugata Das, MD, a cardiologist at Yuma Regional Medical Center in Arizona, died in a small plane crash in California.
