Chiefs lineman aims to be first NFL player to add ‘MD’ to jersey
There’s certainly more to Laurent Duvernay-Tardif than meets the eye—and the Kansas City Chiefs’ 6-foot-5, 321-pound right guard is plenty to take in.
Since being drafted by the Chiefs in 2014, Duvernay-Tardif has continued to work toward his medical degree at McGill University in Montreal. The 27-year-old told The Kansas City Star he plans to take his medical exam before next season and hopes to be the first player/physician in NFL history.
“I want to put Duvernay-Tardif M.D. on my jersey,” he told The Star. “I’ve already started a conversation with the league office and they say that anything is possible.”
A native Canadian, Duvernay-Tardif also attended the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in February as a reporter for Radio-Canada.
