Computer algorithm picks top 27 cardiologists in the US
A company named Grand Rounds has attempted to identify the top 27 cardiologists in the United States using a computer algorithm based on publicly available and proprietary data.
Among other factors, the algorithm includes administrative claims data from insurers, practice affiliations, board certifications, disciplinary actions and academic publications, according to Forbes. San Francisco-based Grand Rounds acknowledged there are many other excellent doctors who may belong on this list, and Forbes was unable to find outside experts to vet the algorithm.
Nonetheless, some prominent names are included on the list. Journal of the American College of Cardiology editor-in-chief Valentin Fuster made the cut, along with three physicians from the Cleveland Clinic and two from Mayo Clinic.
