David Holler, MHA

David Holler

Assistant vice president of cardiac, vascular and neuro services at Jersey City Medical Center/ RWJBarnabas Health in New Jersey

In cardiovascular medicine, the best clinical outcomes require more than excellent physicians. They require the operational infrastructure that enables excellent physicians to do their best work efficiently, reliably and at scale. At 33, David Holler, MHA, is building that infrastructure at one of New Jersey’s most important urban medical centers.

Holler has spent the early years of his career translating complex organizational objectives into measurable operational improvements across the cardiovascular service line. His leadership during Jersey City Medical Center’s journey through ACC cardiac catheterization laboratory accreditation drew notice across the entire RWJBarnabas system. Colleagues from peer hospitals cited his approach as a model for cross-departmental collaboration and disciplined project execution.

That kind of cross-hospital recognition doesn’t come from managing a process; it comes from leading one. David has cultivated a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, championing technology-enabled care improvements in a fiscally responsible manner that keeps innovation sustainable rather than merely ambitious.

The patients benefiting by his work comprise a dense, diverse and historically underserved urban population in Hudson County, N.J., where cardiovascular disease burden is high. In such a setting, reliable, high-quality cardiac services are a lifeline to many.

At 33, David Holler is doing what the best healthcare leaders do—making sure the administration of medical services equals the superb quality of good medicine itself.
