Megan Kraushaar, BS, RCS, FASE

Manager and technical director of noninvasive imaging at UC-San Diego Health

Megan has spent her career proving that excellence in echocardiography is not confined to a single city, a single institution or a single role. From the cardiac echo labs of Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York to the imaging suites of UC-San Diego Health, she has built a reputation as one of the most technically accomplished and passionately committed cardiac sonographers in the country.

Today Ms. Kraushaar, 37, leads a high-performing echo lab while staying at the frontier of cardiac imaging science. Her research contributions span TEER and TAVR procedural imaging, amyloidosis detection, stem cell therapy for heart failure and innovative Doppler-based thrombus prediction. Her authored or co-authored studies have been published in the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography

Her national footprint in the American Society of Echocardiography is equally impressive. A graduate of ASE’s selective Leadership Academy, she stewards five national committees including those focused on credentialing, interventional imaging and nominations. She also modernizes the operations of the San Diego Society of Echocardiography as a board member.

Away from the lab, Ms. Kraushaar screens high school student-athletes for sudden cardiac death risk, serves the Brooklyn Nets and has performed research echocardiograms for 9/11 first responders and survivors through the World Trade Center Health Program.

Nominated by the sitting ASE President, Megan Kraushaar exemplifies the cardiovascular professional who leads with both technical mastery and a servant’s heart.
