Najah Khan, MD

Senior cardiology fellow and AI innovations scholar at Scripps Clinic in San Diego

In a field often resistant to change, Dr. Khan is welcoming the future of cardiovascular medicine with urgency, precision and purpose. She’s only 29 but already has built a deep portfolio of work at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cardiovascular care.

Working under the mentorship of Dr. Sanjeev Bhavnani, Najah has developed AI frameworks incorporating generative AI, natural language processing and deep learning to enable earlier identification of cardiovascular disease. Remarkably, her methodologies have been adopted enterprise-wide by Scripps’ IT/IS departments. This is a testament to both their rigor and their real-world applicability. She now leads her own clinical innovation group.

Beyond Scripps, Dr. Khan serves as a contributor to the Cardiac Science Research Consortium, an FDA public/private partnership, where her insights have helped shape the way regulators evaluate AI within clinical trials for cardiovascular drugs and devices. Her peer-reviewed publications span the likes of JAMA Cardiology and JACC Cardiovascular Imaging, while her advocacy work in linguistic equity in patient care reflects her conviction that innovation must serve all patients.

A mentor to women and underrepresented professionals, Dr. Najah Khan embodies a new generation of cardiovascular leaders. Technically fluent, clinically grounded and equity-driven, she has helped reshape the delivery, regulation and patient experience of cardiovascular care—all before turning 30.
