Will Hewitt

Will Hewitt

Co-founder and CEO of HeartLab in Auckland, New Zealand

Most people spend their teenage years figuring out what they want to do with their lives. At 18, Will Hewitt founded a healthcare technology company.

Now 25, Hewitt runs a cloud-native cardiac imaging and reporting platform that is helping cardiologists across New Zealand, Australia and the United States reclaim time from one of the specialty’s most persistent inefficiencies: the manual, time-intensive workflow of cardiac imaging analysis and reporting. The HeartLab platform streamlines the entire process, reducing repetitive tasks so specialists can better focus on caring for patients.

Will started the company as an effort in AI model development, but early on he made the bold decision to pivot toward a comprehensive platform for cardiovascular practice workflows. The change in course took technical reinvention and strategic vision. He applied both to highly successful effect: The platform is now deployed across four markets internationally, with expansion into the United Kingdom underway.

Radio New Zealand (RNZ) featured Hewitt’s work for a national audience, framing HeartLab technology as an innovative tool for significantly reducing wait times to see cardiologists. Hewitt and HeartLab also were spotlighted in a podcast on healthcare technologies spawned in New Zealand and adopted internationally. Both the broadcasts were independently produced, providing objective validation of HeartLab’s clinical relevance and Hewitt’s visionary leadership.

Given his youthful age and focused energy on top of his valuable technical contributions to date, don’t be surprised if Will Hewitt finds more ways to improve the quality of healthcare delivery over the coming  years.
