A prominent figure in the fields of interventional cardiology and women’s health is now leading the American College of Cardiology.

Several U.S. medical societies have collaborated on a new report advocating for better safety standards in cardiac catheterization labs. As one cardiologist described it, clinicians have shifted from "accepting risk" to "expecting better."

The Cardiovascular Business Forty Under 40 Class of 2026 represents an accomplished group of clinicians, researchers, entrepreneurs and administrators who are redefining what cardiovascular leadership looks like under the age of 40. 

Lerman, who spent nearly 40 years with Mayo Clinic, was especially influential in the treatment of nonobstructive CAD. 

Cardiovascular health is much worse in some parts of the United States than others. Cardiologists in those high-risk areas can make a world of difference by embracing preventive cardiology and working to treat patients before it is too late.

The public has more confidence in the American Heart Association than it does in the FDA, CMS or any other federal health agencies. 

Jennifer Ashton, MD, an OB-GYN who became a household name thanks to years of appearances on ABC News and Good Morning America, hopes this new initiative can help cardiologists learn more about such topics as menopause and hormone therapy. 

Burnout remains one of the biggest issues in modern healthcare. More than 1,500 surgeons, including many from the field of cardiac surgery, provided feedback for a new report on that very topic. 

Pope Leo XIV told interventional cardiologists their work “stands at the crossroads of science, compassion and ethical responsibility.” When they treat patients, he added, they are treating the heart “both physically and metaphorically, bringing relief to those who suffer.”
