New virtual clinic simplifies diabetes care

DreaMed Diabetes has launched a new virtual clinic for patients with type 1 diabetes. Patients will be able to receive “easy, reliable treatment from a distance,” according to an official statement.

“We are very proud to be launching our virtual clinic, continuing our mission to provide healthcare professionals with a reliable, automated decision-support tool that empowers every patient with the best care possible,” said Eran Atlas, DreaMed co-founder and CEO.

The DreaMed Advisor clinical decision support solution will play a key role at the clinic, helping how diabetes patients manage their insulin. The AI-powered technology focuses on the basal rate, carbohydrate ratio and insulin sensitivity of each patient’s insulin pump.

DreaMed emphasized the importance of such a solution during the global COVID-19 pandemic, noting that it allows stay at home during this chaotic time.

“With the coronavirus pandemic sweeping across the globe, we realize more than ever the need to have remote, telemedicine treatment options to ensure as many people as possible, especially those with diabetes, are safe from potential infection and have access to the care they need,” Atlas said.
