Hospital allegedly lied about COVID-19 patient’s death

A hospital in India has been accused of lying about the death of a COVID-19 patient.

New Noor Hospital, located in in the suburb of Kurla, allegedly listed an acute myocardial infarction as the cause of the patient’s death and did not mention COVID-19 at all. In addition, the body was released to the patient’s family.

According to a detailed report from NDTV, the hospital was allegedly bribed to lie on the death certificate and release the body. Rumors about the incident spread locally, and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has now requested an explanation.

Protocols for the area do not allow bodies to be handed over to the deceased’s family if there was a confirmed case of COVID-19. Since the body was released in this instance, the family members are now under quarantine.
