Cardiologist Peter A. McCullough, MD, appeared on Fox News to discuss the medical community’s “therapeutic nihilism” when it comes to potential COVID-19 treatments such as hydroxychloroquine.

The authors explored data from more than 800 patients with coronary heart disease, sharing their findings in Plos Medicine.

The study, published in JAMA Network Open, included data from more than 64,000 COVID-19 patients.

An estimated 15% of the country has now had COVID-19. 

The risk of major bleeding or life-threatening bleeding events was higher when clopidogrel was included in the patient's treatment strategy. 

Specialists also believe that private insurers will follow Medicare's example and reduce their own reimbursement rates.

When the patient had a history of stroke or heart failure, the researchers noted, their prediction model was less accurate. 

In fact, the authors noted, CCTA outperformed SPECT in some key areas. 

According to Abbott, similar programs have improved cath lab learning engagement by 45%.

Women were also seen less regularly by a cardiovascular specialist.

The authors emphasized the importance of investing in "substance use treatment, harm reduction, and structural drivers of overdose" as the pandemic continues.
