FDA gives thumbs up to flex-tipped ablation catheter
The FDA approved St. Jude Medical’s FlexAbility Ablation Catheter for use in the U.S. This follows on the heels of last year’s CE mark approval of the device.
The FlexAbility Ablation Catheter has a bendable irrigated catheter tip and was created to conform to cardiac anatomy. Other features include an improved handle and shaft design for better maneuvering. The flexible tip is intended to provide gentle irrigation to improve cooling.
FlexAbility is used by electrophysiologists to treat arrhythmias.
