ACC selects cardiologists, researchers for Young Investigator Awards
During a ceremony on March 19, the American College of Cardiology (ACC) presented several doctors and researchers with Young Investigator Awards.
The ACC announced the winners in a news release March 24.
Candidates for the awards submitted an abstract summarizing a problem related to cardiovascular disease, according to the ACC. Finalists presented their work during a competition that was held at the ACC scientific session in Washington, D.C.

First place – Carlo R. Bartoli, MD, of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia
Second place – Laura Meems, MD, of Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota
Honorable mention – Matthew J. Lewis, MD, MPH, of Columbia University in New York
Honorable mention – Kevin Morine, MD, of Tufts Medical Center in Boston
Honorable mention – Evan Muse, MD, PhD, of Scripps Translational Science Institute in La Jolla, California
