Empire State practice taps Fuji for PACS

Kaleida Health has selected Synapse PACS, Synapse Cardiovascular and Synapse Virtual Server and enterprise imaging architecture to replace its legacy PACS, cardiology PACS and imaging archives. 

Fujifilm Medical Systems’ Synapse technology will be hosted at Kaleida Health’s data center, which supports its hospitals and associated health centers throughout the Buffalo, N.Y. region.

Kaleida Health is comprised of four facilities including Buffalo General Medical Center, a 501-bed facility and its Gates Vascular Institute, a cardiovascular care center. Synapse Cardiovascular will provide the Gates Vascular Institute and Kaleida Health’s satellite cardiology departments with one structured reporting and image visualization system that can accommodate all cardiology studies.

Another contributing factor in Kaleida Health’s decision to select Fujifilm was Great Lakes Medical Imaging (GLMI) use of Synapse PACS and RIS for its imaging centers and teleradiology services. GLMI is the primary provider of radiology reading services for Kaleida Health. The reading group and Kaleida Health will benefit from Synapse enterprise reading capability and CommonView technology which enables the facilities to share patients’ clinical histories, according to Stamford, Conn.-based Fujifilm.
