New registry aims to improve quality of cardiovascular imaging
The American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) announced Jan. 29 its ImageGuideEcho registry is open to U.S. physicians.
ImageGuideEcho is the first registry exclusively devoted to measuring quality in cardiovascular ultrasounds.
“Lab managers can look to this registry to provide quality feedback metrics per individual physician and across the entire lab in comparison to national standards,” Sherif Nagueh, MD, medical director of the echocardiography laboratory at Houston Methodist Hospital and chair of the ASE Registry Committee, said in a press release. “This feedback loop is essential to continual quality improvement. The volume of patient encounters expected in this registry will also be an advantage for future imaging research efforts.”
The registry will also help cardiovascular imaging physicians meet Medicare reporting requirements under the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and drive reimbursement-related advocacy efforts, according to the press release.
