Genetics play a role in whether an individual develops heart disease. But they’re not the only determining factor. A new study found that good habits can overcome bad genetics in heart disease.

During the American Heart Association (AHA) scientific sessions, researchers presented data showing even though genetics doubles the risk for heart disease, living a healthy lifestyle cuts that increased risk in half.
