Jimmy Kimmel reveals son was born with severe heart defects
During a monologue on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on May 1, the comedian revealed that his wife gave birth to a son who had severe heart defects, the New York Times reports.
Kimmel’s son underwent an emergency surgery soon after being diagnosed with congenital heart disease. Kimmel’s show was off the air last week, so he did not reveal the reason until he returned on May 1.
Kimmel also urged politicians to draft a healthcare plan that protects people with preexisting conditions and allows them access to affordable, comprehensive health insurance.
“This isn’t football,” Kimmel said. “There are no teams. We are the team, it’s the United States. Don’t let their partisan squabbles divide us on something every decent person wants.”
