Abbott has secured U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for its CardioMEMS HERO device, a next-generation pulmonary artery (PA) pressure reader for heart failure patients.
The updated reader is 60% smaller and offers built-in WiFi connectivity. It works with an implantable sensor to monitor a patient's PA pressure.

3D software helps cardiologists plan ahead for TAVR complications

Serious complications are rare after TAVR, but they can be catastrophic or fatal when they do occur. The care team at Sentara Heart Hospital found that bringing in new 3D software made it much easier to plan ahead for such issues.

There were substantial cuts in Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) payments to physicians in 2023 further cuts each year can only be prevented if Congress changes the laws for how CMS pays physicians.
