American College of Cardiology pushes back ACC.21 due to COVID-related uncertainty

The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has announced new dates for its 70th Annual Scientific Session, ACC.21, pushing the event back two months due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

ACC.21, originally scheduled for March 2021, will now take place May 15-17, 2021, in Atlanta.

Back in March, ACC.20 was outright canceled, a first in the conference’s long history. It had been scheduled to take place March 28-30, 2020.

“The health, safety and well-being of our members, staff, exhibitors, faculty, patients and other stakeholders remain of paramount importance,” according to a statement on the ACC’s website. “With continued uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and travel advisories and restrictions still in place in the U.S. and globally, the College hopes the new dates will allow more people to attend ACC.21 in person.”

The ACC also noted that planning has already started for the big show. There will be a “robust and engaging” virtual option available as well.

Registration for ACC.21—both the in-person and virtual options—will open in October. More information, including a FAQ section, is available on the ACC.21 website.
