CMS has been considering such changes for years, hoping to reduce paperwork and encourage collaboration. 

The two groups emphasized the importance of shared decision-making and detailed when patients can consider competitive sports. 

Specialists from the American College of Cardiology and Society of Thoracic Surgeons explored data from more than 276,000 patients who have undergone a TAVR procedure in the last nine years. 

Hospitals in California, Illinois and New York performed especially well, according to the outcomes-based rankings. 

The study’s authors tracked data from more than 22,000 patients with severe aortic stenosis.

The document, published in numerous journals, was designed to help trainees improve their understanding of cardiovascular computed tomography.

“The association between surgeon experience and operative outcomes has been the subject of debate," the researchers explained.
