The specialists believed they were removed from leadership positions for speaking out against the health system's policies. 

The new document, published in both the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and Circulation, highlights the significant progress researchers and clinicians have made in this area in recent years.

Cheryl Pegus, MD, is a veteran cardiologist with prior experience at such companies as Aetna, Pfizer and Cambia Health Solutions.

The original white paper was published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, but later retracted. 

The Heart Rhythm Society also contributed to the guidance.

The cardiologist had been held against his will for nearly one week. 

Specialists also believe that private insurers will follow Medicare's example and reduce their own reimbursement rates.

The alleged wrongdoings, reported by a whistleblower, occurred from April 2014 to March 2020.
