The top 10 hospitals for pediatric cardiology
U.S. News & World Report has published its annual Best Children’s Hospitals rankings, breaking down what it believes to be top pediatric providers in the United States in several categories. The report received a significant upgrade this year: It now includes state and regional rankings, a feature designed to help patients find high-quality care without traveling halfway across the country.
As always, the report also details the top hospitals in the category of pediatric cardiology and heart surgery. These are the top 10 hospitals in that category:
1. Texas Children’s Hospital | Houston, TX
2. UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh | Pittsburgh, PA
3. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles | Los Angeles, CA
4. Boston Children’s Hospital | Boston, MA
5. Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health | Indianapolis, IN
6. Children’s Hospital Colorado | Aurora, CO
7. UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital | Gainesville, FL
8. Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia | Philadelphia, PA
9. Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago | Chicago, IL
10. Children’s Medical Center Dallas | Dallas, TX
One key theme with the 2021 rankings is consistency. The top six hospitals are the exact same as 2020’s ranking, and all but one hospital in this year’s top 10 were also in 2020’s top 10.
“When choosing a hospital for a sick child, many parents want specialized expertise, convenience and caring medical professionals,” Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor for U.S. News, said in a prepared statement. “The Best Children's Hospitals rankings have always highlighted hospitals that excel in specialized care.”
