Canadian diabetes guidelines: Start statins at 40

The Canadian Diabetes Association recommends statin therapy for patients with diabetes mellitus who are 40 years old or older in its 2013 Clinical Practice Guidelines. The guidelines, released April 8, were developed to help healthcare professionals provide optimal early management and treatment to help reduce the potential for serious diabetes-related complications.
