Nurses design bra for heart surgery patients
Nurses at the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation, a heart and lung center in the United Kingdom, have created a special bra for women who have undergone heart surgery, according to a recent report in Nursing Times.
The bra, which conveniently has closures in the front, is made in a range of sizes for patients who require maximum comfort with large chest wounds that need to heal.
“We know that a well-fitting bra will promote good wound healing and reduce the risk of damage to the new incision and underband area for the weeks following surgery,” said Melissa Rochon, a clinical nurse specialists in surveillance that worked to create the bra.
