Illinois cardiologist elected fellow to ACC
Michael LaMonto, DO, a cardiologist at Prairie Heart Institutes of Illinois in Springfield, Illinois, has been elected as a fellow to the American College of Cardiology (ACC) for his achievements in the specialty, reports the Journal Gazette and Times-Courier.
LaMonto holds six board certifications, including general cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, internal medicine, aerospace medicine and emergency medicine. He also practices at Sarah Bush Lincoln hospital in Mattoon, Illinois.
“Dr. LaMonto has been a part of our community’s care team for many years and in different capacities, each time providing excellent medical care to people who seek care here,” said Jerry Esker, the CEO at Sarah Bush Lincoln hospital. "We couldn’t be more pleased that he has achieved this designation in cardiology care because of the positive impact it will have on the cardiac needs of our community members.”
LaMonto will be officially recognized at a ceremony on March 19 in Washington D.C.
