Heart Rhythm Advocates town hall to review key EP policies
Heart Rhythm Advocates, the advocacy arm of the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS), will host a virtual town hall meeting Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. ET to explain some of the key government policy issues in the evolving electrophysiology (EP) practice landscape.
Leaders from both HRS and Heart Rhythm Advocates will introduce the new organization and explain its role in advocating for the EP community in state and national public policy. They will also explain the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) rulings for the calendar year 2026 and the growing role of ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) for EP procedures.
The panel of speakers includes several notable EPs, including HRS past-president Ken Ellenbogen, Dhanunjaya Lakkireddy, Andrea Natale, Arash Aryana, Vijendra Swarup, Sandeep Gautam, and Rajesh Kabra. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask the speakers questions in real time.

The HRS unveiled the initiative to create Heart Rhythm Advocates in November 2024, highlighting its goal to address policy challenges, ensure fair reimbursement and advocate for equitable patient care and access. As a nonprofit group, the HRS has limits to what it can do to influence public policy and political fundraising.
"We're going with a unified electrophysiology community with the old basketball saying from Coach K from Duke, 'a fist is more powerful than a finger.' So we hope we get the EP community mobilized and people pay attention to this and realize the time to have a fight is not when the cuts are on the table, but to explain to people how important and how complex are the things we do," Ellenbogen explained in a 2024 video interview with Cardiovascular Business.
