Medtronic begins European launch of new infusion sets that can be worn up to 7 days
Medtronic has launched its Extended infusions sets in parts of Europe, noting that the new solutions can be worn for up to seven days without being changed. This is the first infusion set that can be worn that long to hit the market, the company said.
“Our goal with this latest innovation is to make insulin pump therapy easier for people living with diabetes,” Julie Foster, vice president of customer experience for Medtronic’s diabetes business, said in a prepared statement. “The Medtronic Extended infusion set introduces increased simplicity and convenience—something we're looking to deliver across all of our products and services to help ease burden and enhance the experience for people wherever they are in their diabetes journey.”
The new sets are compatible with Medtronic’s MiniMed 600 and 700 series insulin pumps. They were specifically designed to limit insulin preservative loss and maintain insulin stability.
Medtronic Extended infusion sets are available now in Finland and Belgium, with other European countries expected to follow throughout the year. In the United States, they are only approved for investigational use at this time.
