ACC journal names noted interventional cardiologist as editor-in-chief
David J. Moliterno, MD, was named the editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology: Cardiovascular Interventions on Jan. 11.
Moliterno, who was previously an associate editor of the journal, will assume his responsibilities with the July 2017 issue. He replaces Spencer B. King III, MD, who had been the journal’s editor-in-chief since its inception in 2008.
Moliterno is the chair of the department of internal medicine at the University of Kentucky and an interventional cardiology faculty member at the Gill Heart Institute in Lexington, Kentucky.
During his two-decade career, Moliterno’s primary research interest has been acute coronary syndromes, according to an American College of Cardiology news release.
Moliterno was named the chief of cardiovascular medicine at the University of Kentucky in 2003. He previously worked at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia and completed multiple fellowships in cardiovascular medicine.
