Supplement that interacts with nitrates recalled
Jack Rabbit, a dietary supplement marketed as an aphrodisiac, is under recall for containing ingredients that might interact with prescription drugs taken for heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes.
The FDA reported that Lot 2510 of the supplement contained Sildenafil and Tadalafil, which may interact with nitrates found in nitroglycerin and possibly lower blood pressure to dangerous levels.
Sildenafil and Tadalafil are active ingredients in drugs prescribed for erectile dysfunction. Sildenafil and Tadalafil are not listed on the Jack Rabbit product label, making the supplement an unapproved drug.
Customers are advised to stop using the supplement immediately and return it to a retailer. They should contact their physician if they have experienced problems related to the product. Adverse reactions can be reported to the FDA’s Medwatch Adverse Event Reporting Program.
