Candice Silversides, MD, has been named the inaugural editor-in-chief of the American College of Cardiology’s newest online journal, JACC: Advances.
Silversides is currently a professor of medicine at the University of Toronto and chair in pregnancy and heart disease at the Miles Nadal Heart Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital, where she heads up the obstetric medicine program and is also the director of the cardio-obstetric clinic.
In addition, she works at the Peter Munk Cardiac Center, where she specializes in adult congenital heart disease and echocardiography.
“I am very honored to serve as the first editor-in-chief of JACC: Advances,” Silversides said in a prepared statement. “As the field of cardiology continues to grow, new subspecialities have developed and it is the perfect time to create a new journal that will publish original manuscripts dedicated to these evolving fields of cardiology. I look forward to working with the editorial board members of JACC: Advances in our shared commitment to help improve cardiovascular care for current and future generations.”
Silversides also serves as the Canadian Adult Congenital Heart Network's vice president and has contributed to multiple practice guidelines published by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society.
JACC: Advances will focus on targeting new and emerging subspecialities in the cardiology field. Specific topics of interest include congenital heart disease, pediatric cardiology, critical care cardiology, geriatric cardiology, cardio-obstetrics and cerebrovascular disease.
The journal is still finalizing its editorial board.
