Cardiology practice launches walk-in clinic in Pennsylvania
Cardiology Consultants of Philadelphia (CCP) opened a cardiac walk-in facility in Springfield, Pennsylvania, that offers fast evaluations and treatment for patients with urgent heart-related symptoms.
The CCP Now clinic is an example of a new kind of outpatient care delivery model designed to keep patients out of hospital emergency departments (ED) and help them avoid long waits for a traditional office visit. The facility is specifically designed for patients experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath, or palpitations who need timely attention without the delays. It offers patients same-day service at lower co-pays than ED visits. It performs several services, including troponin and D-dimer testing, ECGs, echocardiograms, venous Doppler, arterial Doppler and carotid imaging.
Chest pain and shortness of breath are among the top symptoms that prompt ED visits in the U.S. CCP said the walk-in facility will help ease strain on hospital systems and improve the efficiency of care delivery and patient convenience. This allows hospital EDs to focus more on the management of complex emergencies.
CCP said it is attempting to fills a critical gap in local care by providing immediate access to board-certified cardiologists and advanced diagnostic services in an outpatient setting.
"Many cardiac symptoms require prompt evaluation, but not every situation warrants a trip to the emergency room, and not every patient has availability for an urgent office visit,” Rob Scherr, DO, a CCP cardiologist, said in a statement. “CCP Now allows us same-day assessment of patients. We can quickly perform necessary cardiac testing on site, and determine the safest next steps for care, all in an environment designed specifically for heart patients.”
