Florida cardiologist fatally struck by car while walking to volunteer position
Agustin Collado, MD, a cardiologist in Port Charlotte, Florida, died recently when a car hit him while he walked across the street to volunteer at the Virginia B. Andes Community Clinic, the local NBC affiliate reports.
Collado volunteered at the clinic four days per week and saw at least 100 patients each month, according to the station. He was killed by an 18-year-old driver when Collado walked from Fawcett Memorial Hospital to the clinic. Collado was a founder of Fawcett Memorial Hospital.
