‘I’m a monster’: New York cardiologist sentenced to 3 years in prison for assaulting infant son
A cardiologist out of Long Island, New York, has been sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting his infant son.
According to a detailed report from Newsday, evidence produced during the trial showed that Neiman Ramjattan, 35, shook his son in August 2020, leading to brain bleeding, retinal hemorrhaging and fractures to both legs. The son was 4 weeks old at the time.
Ramjattan was working as a cardiologist at Northwell Health in Bay Shore at the time of the incident.
“I’m a monster,” Ramjattan said, as quoted by Newsday. “I hurt my child.”
